Advanced Care in Action: Mango’s Recovery

Mango, a 2-year-old Persian cat, was brought to Soulmates Vet Hospital presenting with rapid and labored breathing.

Investigations, including X-ray and ultrasound, revealed a severe pyothorax — a collection of pus and fluid in the chest cavity. Despite repeated aspirations of over 250ml each time, the fluid continued to accumulate, indicating the need for a more advanced intervention.

Our veterinary team employed a pig-tail catheter in the pleural cavity for continuous drainage under sedation and anesthesia. This approach allowed controlled and gentle removal of the infection, helping Mango breathe comfortably and recover steadily.

This procedure represents a significant milestone at Soulmates Vet Hospital, marking the first time such a technique has been successfully performed in our veterinary practice.

At Soulmates Vet, we are committed to providing advanced care because every life deserves a second chance.♥️
